About Fairhope, AL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

One of the largest cities in Baldwin County with over sixteen thousand people, Fairhope seems like an ordinary Southern town until you look at its beginnings. Henry George was a 19th century economist who advocated for workers' rights and a single land tax. In 1894, a group of his followers founded Fairhope as a colony that would enact George's ideals of "cooperative individualism".

Because of its roots, it attracted many progressive thinkers in all fields, including education and art, who shaped the town's personality considerably. Later influxes of workers didn't hold the same ideals as the founders, but a creative community still remains in Fairhope. The town has kept its small-town feel thanks to the efforts of local residents who have campaigned for more control over new construction.

Top employers include Thomas Hospital and the City of Fairhope, as well as a Wal-Mart that residents were able to keep just outside the city limits. Like the rest of southern Alabama, Fairhope has a humid subtropical climate that's more temperate than its inland counterparts, with winter highs of 60 and summer highs of 90, and five and a half feet of rain fairly evenly spaced throughout the year.

The six public schools are under the jurisdiction of Baldwin County School District, and there are two alternative schools, including the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education that was built based on the principles of the original Georgist founders, as well as branches of Faulkner State Community College andUniversity of South Alabama. A group of residents maintains the Beautiful Fairhope website that lists community events and organizations, including the Grand Festival of Art and the Alabama Coastal BirdFest. There are a couple golf courses, several parks, and the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are only a 45-minute drive away.
